These are the formal gardens at The Lodge, behind the main house. They're good for seeing flowers, shrubs, gardeners, hoses, wheelbarrows, lawnmowers and firecrests, on occasion.
The old swimming pool (now wildlife pond) is nice to sit by in summer and watch the dragonflies go by. In summer 2006, small red-eyed damselflies were seen for the first time. Moorhens also bred (more or less unnoticed) on one of the floating 'beds', before relocating to the pond outside the canteen.
